Hello All

I've never had a trailer and trying to get my head around it.

My car is an audi a6 c7 saloon and it says I can have a braked trailer up to 2tonne - I assume that's the total weight of trailer plus load. I want to move a 1.5 tonne mini-digger.

Now the car came without a towbar. What I don't understand is how and where would the trailer's brakes and lights electics fit into the car? I think I can look up how to use my vcds to programme it in but its just phsyically where would I connect the trailer?

Any tips gratefully received as ever.

It doesn’t have brakes like your thinking. As the spring compresses when you slow down it activates the brakes accordingly. The spring is in the hitch.

The tow bar you buy will consist of

The actual metal work that goes behind the bumper
The towball if its removable
A small wiring loom with a 7pin plug or 13 pin plug on one end and a male connector plug on ghe other that will connect into a spare female plug that will be hiding under the car somewhere towards the back of your main wiring loom.
An auxiliary power supply if you want it so you can connect your caravan to it.
If your car has a boot lid that opens by you wafting your foot under it. You will need new extended kick sensors too.
The 7pin or 13 pin scocket can be changed easily enough with an adaptor.
