It has been noticed that Google AI is now reporting Stealthplate are not legal in the UK which is untrue. Ad long as the number plate is visible (to the human eye) and meets the appropriate colour and dimensions it is fully legal.

Now I know Stealthplates work well as I have tested them but I wonder whether 3d plates are just as effective? Would certainly be cheaper if they are.

Personally can’t see the need for anything other than normal plates. If you’re not driving like a **** why have them?

Are 3d/4d plates just as effective as Stealthplates?

I recently received a fine for driving through a 'Bus Gate' in an area I did not know and where the warning signs were hidden behind other road signs, also the writing in the road was so faded as to be unreadable. Did appeal it but the adjudicator (Solicitor) claimed that they were partially visible as a a slightly different height.

That is just one example of why I would consider these plates.

Stealthplates seems to be quite clever technology reflecting only certain wavelengths but probably relies on a homogeneous reflection accross the whole plate i.e. it is flat.

3d plates as the names suggests aren't flat.

Anyway this should be in the perverting the course of justice forum section.

The Police aren't stupid, they'll get you.

It's the one obvious signs of a knob; just look at the ongoing thread.

And yes the OP seems to align with the brief

In fairness to Google AI, Stealthplate's own web site - https://www.stealthplate.co.uk/faqs/ - admits Stealthplates are illegal in the UK. Their only questions seem to be would a customer ever get caught and, if so, then what would the offence(s) be?

As 'legal' as those mileage blockers, aftermarket xenon bulbs for halogen housings/patterns, undetectable remaps, cat-bypasses, SCR removals, etc.

All bought by the same type of people who claim that whilst they're 'technically' illegal, they're unlikely to be caught, and they're "not hurting anyone".

Not triggering ANPR cameras, I would have thought that was obvious to most normal people.

If you use them to avoid be prosecuted for an offence then they are, it is called perverting the course of justice, it is taken very seriously as the max penalty is life imprisonment.

You won’t be able to explain it to the OP who clearly thinks it’s acceptable to put some dodgy st plates on their car because they are special.

Not true. The regulations that determine plate legality cover more than that, it's called something like BSU145e or something, those regs define what makes a plate legal.

Plates must be visible to cameras too, not just the human eye.
