Hi everyone - not sure if anyone can help. I recently purchased the above book but the USB with pictures and video (apparently) is not working at all. I have spoken to several other owners of the book and they report the same issue apart from one chap on eBay who says his is fine but is asking £3500 for the book and USB! Does anyone have a copy of backup copy of the drive that they would be willing to copy for me - obviously I do not expect it for free!
Thanks

I can’t help with the files but have you tried a data recovery service? Is it possible the files are still intact just inaccessible for whatever reason? If so, perhaps there are other methods to read the drive.

Is it worth going back to the person you bought it from?

Did they say it was working?

Thanks for the replies - not sure how to reply to individual posts so I'll just update here.

tallpaul26 -
I am looking at a data recovery service currently - trouble is the drive might have to be taken apart to recover which I'm not keen on but will see.

Olivergt -
I did go back to the seller and he said to ship back and he would send his - until he found out his doesn't work either! I tried a couple of other people with them and they all say theirs do not work.

There is a chap on eBay with the book and he says that his USB has been fixed so that may be the way to go - although expensive at £800 - more than I paid for the book!

There are a few things you can do yourself quite easily.

See here for more information:

If those don't work, then it would have to be a professional recovery service who might have some more tricks up their sleeves.

About 8 years ago I had an SD card that was showing as having data on it and I knew it had a video from my wedding on it (right click > get info, or similar) but appeared as though it was blank. I was then able to ‘show hidden files’ (I can’t exactly remember how without a PC in front of me) and the video was there.

Are you able to ‘right-click’ and then ‘get info’ or ‘properties’. It will show if there is data on there in my experience.

‘Show hidden files’ might be worth a Google...?
