I'm not the biggest fan of many safety systems but I don't mind them. It boils down to how easy it is to configure and control them plus how well they are calibrated to work to begin with.

My new car has a speed warning that it's possible to configure only to alert you when your are x% over which is great but that won't retain the setting across restarts. I'll learn to love it...

When I was watching reviews of it before purchasing i noticed that people were obsessed with ancillary lighting features.
They would go crazy for puddle lamps that included the car logo and ambient lighting. Huge parts of the review would be dedicated to ogling those features.
There is zero part of this that appeals to me in any way, and I certainly don't want to pay to have it added.

We are all different i suppose. Restrict yourself to *one* complaint and let us know why!

Touch screens for everything when touching your mobile phone can get you 6 points if caught.

Great, another topic to bring together the pistonheads grumpy gits association, to bemoan modern cars.

Touch screens
size
Shape
Similarities
Weight
driving dynamics
Cost
Safety...

What have I missed? biglaugh

Well, the ADAS in my 2024 VAG hatchback is absolutely appalling.

I m told some other systems in some other use cases operated by other people are less terrible, but the one I suffer is indefensible.

That s far worse then the mildly annoying, but similarly not fit for purpose touch screen operation of the ventilation, for example.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Probably a few others but that is a good start.

Self cancelling indicators. You have to constantly check they haven't cancelled before the manoeuvre, then you still have to be prepared to cancel them manually after.

Sunroofs, rob headroom and eventually rattle.

Agreed. It is incomprehensible that they are permitted for use on the move just based on all the arguments used to justify banning even touching your mobile phone.

Electric tailgates - completely pointless and significantly slower than just manually opening and closing the boot. Even more annoying if anything in the boot happens to even touch the tailgate as it closes meaning it freaks out and opens back up again.

Or if you have a Model 3, the chance of the boot strut failing and taking that massive rear window out with it. For heaven's sake, it's slower than operating it manually, and a button on the boot lid is still using a hand, so why not have it as a sensor under the bumper if its meant to be for convenience?!

Dual-clutch gearboxes on anything other than supercars. I've never driven a car that wouldn't (IMO) be better served by either a manual or a good planetary automatic.

For you, annoying. A friend of mine is 70 and his wife has bad arthritis. Electric tailgate was one of their requirements. smile

I like most of the ADAS in my Honda eNy1, but the phantom braking (hard) when it 'thinks' something is in front of you has happened twice. frown

Automatic choke.

Fine for people who are happy not to have control of the engine, but utterly unfit for proper drivers.

On a point of order, touching your phone per se is not illegal. Using a phone whilst handheld is the offence.

This is probably what you meant, but there is already much misunderstanding around this topic, so it's best not to add to the misinformation.

If your phone is in a holder/cradle you can touch it as much as you want.
