Daughters just bought her first car and it hasn’t had its say nav enabled. So my first thoughts were to take this to an independent, rather than Audi, to get this done which i think would cost £100 to £150. The downside with this is that the maps might be 2018 maps, which got me thinking about other options.

From a quick bit of internet and ai searching it looks like it would cost

1) about £350 to £400 to get CarPlay with the existing screen which would work off the scroll button rather than touch screen

2) a standard touchscreen unit might cost 400 to 500 but then probably wouldn’t work with the scroll button, which might easier to use than the touchscreen on the move ( appreciating you probably shouldn’t use either on the move)

3) a premium touchscreen which would work with the scroll wheel as well for about £550 to £650.

Option 2 probably seems the best value but I’d be interested in hearing anyone who either works in the area or has done similar before advising her where to spend her cash.

Option 4 is just to buy her a mobile phone holder for £20

£200 - £300 seems to get something reasonable that you can self install with fairly basic DIY skills.

Regarding the phone holder the sucker to glass ones have a nasty habit of randomly abandoning ship when temperature changes inside the car cabin causing the issue.

A brodit unit or a decent clone of may be the way to go
