I was looking for some parts and spotted this car in for breaking. I presume it's a replica but it's still a great car. How did this end up at the scrappy?

Always sad to see cars like that in the scrap yard but its not the first and wont be the last!

Its a bit broken, so goes to a breakers yard like every other car ?

There isnt a sort of private hospital for enthusiast cars, even though its damaged its still quite valuable, same as all the Lamborghinis, Porches and Ferraris that get crashed, they get taken to the same place, its what happens after that will differ to say a Peugeot 206 worth £200. Anything decent/valuable will, in some case be put undercover away from the actual wrecks.

The intake manifold looks like it's been welded up instead of being a single piece, which seems odd.

I suspect it may be a good replica based on a modified "normal" shell, which i have seen done before.

Has to be a replica at that price plus it is listed as 2226cc, genuine sports were 2133cc due to rallying rules at the time

I would have jumped onto the Replica band wagon too. But that interior is looking very authentic, I suspect that UPI have just pulled the data from the closest match on the system.

Also at £19k that is quite a bit for a damaged replica.

Definitely a replica but bear in mind this is a parts only car. It’s highly unlikely that any prospective buyer will be allowed to take the car away in one piece.

Hard to tell from the angle of the picture but isn't the giveaway on the replicas the rake of the windscreen? Genuine Sports have a noticeably steeper screen than normal quattros IIRC.

I am sure that all genuine Sport Quattro's had a grey interior also this car does not seem to have the shortened seat pan as per genuine cars

They used an Audi 80 screen assembly on the Sport if I recall correctly. My friend had a Dialynx Sport conversion and they also followed this mod - not sure if a Dialynx would be considered a replica or something approaching the real thing, but they seemed to be respected.

It does have the more upright screen that the genuine cars would have, but with the value of a genuine car being comfortably over £400k I'd expect they're quite difficult to write off. As others have said, there are differences in the engine bay, and the instrument panel is different. The sport has a boost gauge rather than the diagnostic display at the top between the rev counter and speedo, and says 'quattro' rather than 'check'. It also doesn't have a temperature gauge in bottom left - that's a battery voltage gauge on the real car - and there are more warning lights. The rev counter red line is at 7200, and the speedometer goes up to 300kmh.

It does look like it was a decent replica, though - usually they have the rear quarter vent in the wrong place.

You won't.

Cat B so parts only, you strip what you want on site and the rest / shell gets crushed as per the blurb under the listing.

Some ‘friendly’ breakers will allow you to take the entire vehicle but they are few and far between.
As a parts only car it’s not worth anywhere near the asking price without the complete shell, or what’s left of it.

front headrests different in the original ? 34,000 mile on the scrapyard one doesn't seem to be an original for £18,995.00 + VAT ??
