Driven about 250 miles today. Got home, saw the above. I'll be fitting the spacesaver before driving anywhere else!.

How was that not hitting the road on every revolution and hence incredibly loud?

Pretty sure it happened about 10 miles from home. Mrs SB was driving, said there's an odd little rattle. (I couldn't her it, but her hearing's better than mine)

Car was packed to the gills with stuff, some of which was also rattling!

I can't believe it's repairable, give proximity to sidewall and the size.

Currently Michelin Crossclimate 2's all round. The fronts have done 40K miles and are due replacement anyway. The rear ones (with the puncture) have done 30K., so I'm replacing all four. (Not cheap, but the PH Michelin offer should help a bit)

I'm amazed how well they've lasted. I used to think 15K out of a set of tyres was pretty good.

That looks seriously silly.

Tyre Diameter is 4" less than the standard, and the car's 4WD. Diff is likely to be working overtime...

(Tyre pressure was low when photo was taken. Now at 60PSI but still looks daft!

I'll raise you

With a bit of luck we can soon have a half decent tool kit in the thread

PS

I have no idea how they managed to get thro the tyre blunt end first

They weren't my bloody pliers

It was a near new tyre that couldn't be repaired

I also had to buy a new wheel arch liner!!!

Not a great day!!

I know of a guy who had a bill for thousands of pounds worth of damage to a Volvo XC90 PHEV after one of the tyres failed and the debris damaged some expensive hybrid bits.

I had a teaspoon go through tyre about 25 years ago, i felt the tyre go down as i was literally passing a local kwikfit, i drove in and asked them to take a look and heard the guffaws of laughter coming from the workshop.

yikes Doesn't look like you could drive very far with that...

For us, the TPMS didn't trigger. When I checked pressure this AM it was down to ~10psi but it wasn't visibly deflated.
