Im struggling with the search function.
Purchased a second hand car from a dealership 12 days ago.
Today the car goes into limp mode and engine light comes on.
Dealer says phone warranty company.
Phone them who say they may not cover the full costs.
Can i reject it?
The warranty company will likely say they don't cover pre existing faults and as you have had the car 12 days it is likely the fault was there at purchase so should go back to the dealer. It's a classic dealer response to try and pass the issue to the warranty company. Purchased a second hand car from a dealership 12 days ago.

You're legally entitled to reject it within 30 days, no need to let the garage fix it or even try to fix it. You can let them but you don't have to!
Admittedly, if you're as lucky as I am with dealers they can just ignore you. My current situations is that I've informed the trader I'm rejecting the car, he's gone silent. Waited 14 days, follow up with a "letter before action" and give 14 days, still no response it's small claims court. If you paid via credit card or even debit card the bank may be able to help you.
My other situation is that I bought a replacement vehicle, infinitely nicer example but it needs a fuel pump. Not cheap but not a deal breaker but the trader has also gone quiet when approached on the topic. Considering it's about an £1,100 repair I don't intend of being lumbered with that cost but I'm happy for the car to be fixed. In this situation, it's a similar set of events, if it's proven I need the car (which I do) and I've given them a chance to respond then I can put in a claim and they'd be made to pay for the repair.
If you don't want the car OP, you need to formally reject it via e-mail or letter or both but you have to stop driving it as if you continue to use it, it may be considered you accepting it and if you go to court it may not help your case. Hope that helps.
