Just bought my wife a VolvoXC60. Hybrid
I know bit boring but happy wife happy life.
Because I am usually fairly grubby, I am not allowed near it, several threats. However she did ask me just to move it into the carport, which is at least 100 yards from a minor road up our driveway We were going out in another car. First time to drive it so Very gingerly I put it into drive and approached the car port which was about twenty yards away. Carefully missing the pillars I was then on a little slope down . I realised I was too close to the hose reel to open the door to get out. Put it into reverse but the handbrake was locked on. Pressed every button I could find, turned the key on and off, made sure my foot was on the brake etc
I discovered that I had about one second after I turned the key off when I could go back about six inches I managed to go out of the carport in a series of six inches moves. It took me quite some time and I was very angry by the time I had cleared the entrance. Went on to the website to find out what I had done or not done. I think I already knew that the car has a slope sensor and will put the handbrake on automatically. It turns out the car was not faulty, just me. What did I do wrong?

Might be of interest to you, our Scania trucks have electric park brakes...i'm not a fan, imho an electric park brake has no place in a truck, anyway as you were...if you need to reverse with the door open and/or seat belt off if you hold the park brake switch down on a Scania as you start to move it will override the auto brake function and leave it off whilst you complete your maneuver until you apply the park brake again which resets things.
Volvo and Scania have very similar safety features and it wouldn't suprise me if this works on your XC60 too.

Interestingly, I drove a friend's Corolla a few months back and all the nonsense had been set to default off including the seat belt reminders. Apparently straightforward enough on a Toyota at least with a laptop and the right software.

My wife traded her 2022 xc60 T8 in a few months ago. She didn’t mind the car. I detested the bloody thing. I know bit boring but happy wife happy life.

The nannying was ridiculous. Try to park on multi stories and sometimes it just wouldn’t let you reverse in.
Final straw was a dual carriageway where it thought the speed limit was 30, it was a 70. Think jammed the brakes on. I didn’t realise it couldn’t be overridden until you go in to the lockdown switch on the throttle.
Scared the bloody daylights out of me as there was a hgv barreling down on me.
Infotainment system constantly crashed and needed a full power reset to get it to start working again.
In every other respect it was a brilliant car with 450 bhp. Comfortable air suspension. Loads and loads of toys but my god it wanted to be in control all the time.
