If you were limited to just one car, what would you go for?

Honestly, and this seems a very odd one considering my dislike of EVs in the past, a BMW i5 M60.
They have enough range to be practical, enough power to be fun, looks great (IMO) and for someone like me with sensitive hearing; quiet / no exhaust drone usually associated with 500-600+ hp cars.

2 young kids and 2 dogs and not earning mega money = estate that won’t cost the earth to run and maintain.
Probably a BMW M340i in green over tan or wacky banana spec, individual Dakar Yellow over white!
Or with my more safety conscious hat on, a Volvo V60/V90 wagon comparable with what we already have now, but with added bonus of panoramic roof and blonde interior.

The last time I had only one car, it was my RX-7. It was useable for two people to go away, could be parked on a muddy verge etc, but was light and special and therefore fun.
The main drawback was an inability to throw a bicycle in the back, but probably worth the hassle of a sucker system or something for that use-case. A definite possibility although I'd want to make sure it has working A/C and probably a single turbo setup for reliability.
The Ferrari FF always seems like a great option, really special car that also has folding rear seats. But a bit big, and thirsty.
The 3-series Touring is always the go-to and I see why.
ETA: Scooby Impreza WRX Wagon could be good, the original GC cars were light and a smooth-revving engine which can make plenty of power.
I honestly don't know if I could live with only an EV, but if so a Taycan ST ticks a lot of boxes. I think if it was one car only for say a year, I would, but if it was for the rest of my life, probably not.

They actually peaked my interest too a while back as well. Their performance really attracted me, and I'm not usually one to get excited about electric either, but I do like them though. A lot of electric car owners do seem to appreciate the smoothness and the quietness as you allude to as well.

My wife's RS4 is just coming up to 2 years old - if we" had " to only have one car this might well be it.
Fuel consumption varies from high teens to high twenties.
Hers has the RS Sports exhaust so even with the GPF's it can still sound pretty decent although clearly not going to sound as good as the V8 of the 6.
2 year service plan was just over £528 iirc.
We would both have preferred the 6 but the sheer size of it put her off.
She still has it and has no desire to change.
