Alfa range earns Edizione Luna Rossa trim
New Junior, Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio 'bring the aesthetic codes of the sailing world to the road'
The Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa partnership was unlikely to begin and end with just the Quadrifoglio. There were only 10 of those, after all, for the most dedicated (and wealthy) of Alfisti. Now the efforts of the collaboration are becoming more widely available, with an Edizione Luna Rossa announced for the Junior, Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio.
They’re as you might expect, by and large, with a similar cosmetic overhaul to the Giulia (if not the wild aero enhancements). So all Ediziones get red Alfa badges, the Junior and Tonale get a new grey colour ‘inspired by the hues of the Personal Flotation Devices’, the Giulia and Stelvio receive an interior makeover with carbon and Econyl fabric - plus all get distinctive liveries on top.
While the Junior and Tonale Edizone Rossas, with 3D Knit upholstery (so it’s like activewear), aluminum accents and Luna Rossa logos, are likely to be the best sellers, it’s the Giulia and Stelvio that are surely of most interest - even with just the 280hp turbo rather than the Quadrifoglio V6. They’re marked out by new wheels (19s on the saloon; 21s on the SUV), red brake calipers, and extended leather inside. Otherwise known as ‘an environment in which technical materials and premium workmanship coexist with distinctly sporty characteristics.’ The Giulia even gets a standard sunroof, like a proper old-fashioned special edition.
While the old stagers have just one powertrain choice, the fresher-faced SUVs can have the entire lineup in Luna Rossa spec - which Alfa believes is ‘one of the most distinctive Alfa Romeo special series in recent years.’ So the Junior can be had as a 145hp, three-cylinder hybrid or a 156hp EV, while the Tonale gets a suite of electrified powertrains all the way up to the 270hp PHEV Q4. Once more, the wheels are unique to the Luna Rossa, and the colour palette ‘inspired by Luna Rossa boats, where white, black, grey and red are featured in specific combinations and details’ is available on all versions.

This partnership goes far beyond sport and is fueled by shared expertise, technology and vision, with the aim of continually pushing the limits. Today in Naples, on the way to the first America's Cup held in Italy, this bond takes on an even stronger value and the new Edizione Luna Rossa is its most concrete expression, bringing to the road the pride and passion that make Made in Italy unique in the world.” Which sounds a tad grandiose for a new series of not-so-new cars, but would we have Alfa Romeo special editions any other way? Exactly.
The Luna Rossas will be on sale from December 1st, with deliveries due in Q1 ‘27. Prices haven’t yet been announced, though expect to pay a bit extra compared to the regular Junior Hybrida (£29,115), Junior Elettrica (£34,000), Tonale MHEV (£37,765), Tonale PHEV (£43,660), Giulia Veloce (£48,800) and Giulia Veloce (£57,220). But, if like Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa, you also ‘innovate, excel in competition and constantly push limits’, then surely no other derivative will do.
