She popped out to get her nails doe earlier, only about a 5 mile drive. When she got there she phoned me to say she'd got a flat tyre. Annoying as I'd had a new set of Goodyear Eagle's fitted last year.
I drove out to meet her and she explained that when she'd set off she could hear a funny sound and the car felt a bit funny. I removed the wheel and could see there was a nail in the tread, seemed perfectly repairable. However, when flipping the wheel over....

Just after she passed her test my daughter did that in my wife's car. She was easy to find - I just followed the score mark the wheel rim had left in the road.
Seems your daughter needs to be stoped from diving.

I expect you're a driving God and have never made a mistake either. 
Perhaps some tolerance and understanding might be in order.believe it or not, some people are not predisposed to understanding how stuff works. My brother could write Cobol code all day long but not know how to identify what has caused a flat battery on a car or indeed how to fix it.
OP I feel your pain. Wife managed to kerb 2 tyres in the space of 3 months while having just passed her test in our shedscort. I switched to budget soon after.
Takr it on the chin and just be grateful no one is hurt or injured as a result.

She'd have had the radio on loud so she couldn't hear the tyre noise 
An ex of mine had a Mini Metro that I rarely went in and never drove.On this 1 occasion I was a passenger and she managed to drive through every pot hole, over every raised man hole cover, literally everything on the road that wasn't smooth tarmac.Even as a passenger it felt off so next day I took it for a drive and it was totally unstable....got it up on a ramp and realised the rear subframe was split !
I always wonder if it was her driving that wrecked it

Apart from the damage - that doesn't look like a 1 year old tyre? I've done it, I was on the A38 about seven miles from Bridgewater and thought the back end of the car felt a bit 'slippy' whilst going around a right hand bend. I put it down to diesel or oil on the road as the car then felt normal, it wasn't until I went around the first roundabout in Bridgewater that I realised that something was actually wrong, when I stopped and looked the inside of the tyre was just like that. And then I found out that the spacesaver I had didn't fit...
Also, as I didn't kill anyone to death and no kittens were harmed during this highly dangerous and reckless event do I get to keep my licence?

This.I did similar in my old S80.
Rear wheel puncture on a front wheel drive car with silly rubber band tyres anyway meant that at 'stuck behind sunday driver pace' you couldn't tell apart from the noise when the music went quiet.
Difference being I stopped to investigate as soon as I heard it.
I'd definitely know about it in my 740 with tyres with sensible sidewalls!
(Just wait for that person to turn up and say they can sense a 1psi change. I kid you not I've seen that on here before.)
