looking to download an app that will give me some in car acceleration timings...any recomendations?

Any apps you can download will be near on gimmicks. The most cost effective and tried and tested route would be to buy a draggy. Can be had for around £100.

RaceBox also makes some nice products for this use, you need better accuracy than what the phone hardware can do if you want to do any kind of useful measurement.
