Honestly, I’m not sure what you’re expecting. It’s a seven year old car that’s well out of warranty and you don’t have a main dealer service history.
The fact that they couldn’t replicate the problem you were having the first time you took it in is unfortunate, but I struggle to see how that means the dealer should take some responsibility for the fault.
