New Air Ambulance from Hammonds fund
Discussion
Almost brought the old thread back to life, but decided on a new one.
On last nights local news there was the new (second) air ambulance, paid for by the the huge fund that came from the unflux of donations since the Hamsters near death episode.
It was very nice and bright yellow.
Looks like no one else noticed as I have not seen another post on it (then again my searching persevierence is not very good), but guess what was on the side?
A lovely Pistonheads sticker.
Thought I was seeing things, but it was definately there. Great advertising, guess they did notice the extent of the donations that resulted from the pistonheads website.

hello all,
I was lucky enough to go and see the new chopper a few weeks ago in it new home at sheffield airport.
G-CEMS is 1.5 million pounds worth of the best life saving equipment money can buy. The helicopter is one of the most advanced helicopters currently being used in the UK air ambulance service. It officially went into active duty on Saturday 13th October and is based at Sheffield City Airport. It is opperating 3 days a week from sheffield and th weekends from leeds. At prescent both aircraft are only flying 5 days a week to help keep the costs down and because the NHS wont give them any more paramedics!!
The helicoper will have winching capabilities when they find the money to buy one. It also has better radars installed so eventually again fundig dependant they aim to start flying at night and in worse weather conditions than previously allowed and It has an auto pilot function.
One of its main roles will be express patient transfers. The chopper is kitted out with alot of state of the art equipment for patient transfers so they can get more specalist help a lot quicker. these flights will be funded by the NHS!!
The initial depost was payed for by the money raised on the justgiving site which totaled (including the gift aid) £240,348.67. Buying the helicopter means they YAA have to raise £6900 A DAY to keep them both going. so please dont forget about them you can still dont at www.justgiving.com/yaac or via their website at www.YAA.org.uk
Please take it from myself and rog when he pops in, the YAA are very greatful for the money raised and thank everyone for their donations that were made through the website!!

It is a bit sad, but to be fair, he is fronting Helicopter Heroes which starts it's evening run in a few weeks. They have also just started recording a 2nd series which will last for 7 months! Every time I see Heli Ted perched behind the navigator I have to smile
I saw it on the local TV news too. As the camera tracked near the start of the item the PH logo was very prominent! "Speed Matters" was never more appropriate.
