Just had the pleasure of sitting in the passenger seat whilst my Mrs neatly introduced my car to a length of kerb. Very much like dragging a fork under pressure over a plate! furious

Quick poll - is your partner alloy friendly?

Although technically, women should be more prone to wheel kerbing as they haven't got as good spatial awarness due to physiological and functional brain differences, I don't think the problem is only with them. Any person who sees a car as just a tool for getting from a to b seems to not care too much and seems to take less care over such matters.

Have to say that management had a smart car with alloys for 5 years 24,000 miles not one mark on the wheels .................

EXACTLY! I already had a mark on one wheel - and I knew I hadn't done it as well! At least this time she can't deny it!

I do find it slightly bizarre that people who don't really care about cars, certainly not enough to be any more than "approximate" with their parking, have readily embraced alloy wheels, low-profile tyres, painted bumpers and the gradual thinning and eventual deletion of plastic door planks.

Form over function, eh?

That's weird - I didn't think alloy wheel kerbing was an issue on the Range Rover or BMW X5/Audi Q7 etc... confused

She wasn't parking, just wasn't looking where she was going - almost took out a hooded chav in the process - would have been worth the damage if she had. smile

Every time I swap my company car (every 6 months) I end up having to fork out for at least 1 wheel to be repaired. I'm in shock sometimes when we for some reason cut across corners instead of going around them, drives me mad. That's why when she asks if she can drive my Tuscan it's the same answer. NEVER. mad

How else is a woman going to judge how close they are to a kerb scratchchin

An expensive car wheel and a woman - machines in perfect 'dis-harmony'
