So there's this black Ferrari 360 that's sitting pretty much abandoned in an underground garage at some flats where my friend lives. It's a fairly salubrious area so there's all manner of exotic metal down there, but this draws some serious attention.

It's been there gathering dust now for months - the tyres are all almost flat, and as you can see various people have 'had their say'. Even more surprisingly the passenger door is open, with the contents still inside (the pocket contains various CDs, for example). It's been reported to the police by someone I know with no action taken, and so the thing is still just sat there.

What do you do?

Squat in it, then claim it as your own after you've lived in it for however long you have to live in something to claim it.

There was a thread similar to this a week ago except the guy had a prelude in his space and wanted to know what to do.

It could be someone who lives in the flats and gone travelling. I'd say report it to Police and see if they can notify the keeper that it's opened.

Lock it.

If you have time, give it a quick wash.

It's what you'd want someone to do if it were yours.

HPI it, if it's clear, apply for a V5, if that comes thru, sell it. I want 50% of it though!

I thought the traditional method was to contact the DVLA, requesting the log book. They write to the registered owner, wait 4 weeks, and if nothing back, send the log book and instructions to you?

You'd only be the registered keeper, not the owner, though.

Theft, basically.

I can't believe PHers are even wondering about this.

We all know that! I wasn't actually being serious but it would work and if you had log book sent to postal address, you'd be very difficult to catch!!

Its someones car, either they had to leave the country or they have been banged up.

Some one paid for it so its not for the taking. It could be a wealthy Arabian persons car. I have heard many of their cars sit in underground car parks in and around london gathering dust untill they fancy shipping them over!

Inform the police, hate to say it but the owner may have died, his relatives or executor of his estate may not even be aware the car is down there!
Bizarre the door is open though!
