Can anyone point me in the direction (or perhaps more usefully post the contact details) of a firm that can fabricate an exhaust flange/spacer to the following specifications, but 15mm thick?

TIA

I always use Longlife in Wallington SW London/Surrey. Dan, although he can be a grumpy sod at times, does a good job & he can make pretty much anything!

Nice 3D wireframe, but not enough detail for a fabricator to manufacture from. Appreciate that you've added for illustration however.

You after them made from steel or from ali? You COULD make from ali yourself at home reasonably easily if you coul get hold of the plate. Only basic hand tools would be required, plus some elbow grease. Likewise steel would be do-able, but the large holes couldn't be drilled with a hand drill and a hole saw like they could in ali .... bodge? ingenuity? Sometimes it can be a bit grey where one starts and the other ends smile

Point taken, but the flange shape is a standard two-bolt design, I'd hope any exhaust component fabricator would know the proper dimesions.

Also, as this is an exhaust flange, would aluminium be able to cope with the heat?

if you have a proper drawing of it i wouldnt bother going to an exhaust specialist, just look in yellow pages for a local fabricator

Ali copes ok for the head, but you are right to question whether they'd cope without the coolant and surface area to soak the heat away.

Have you looked at the demon tweeks site, or exaust specialists, to see if there is "something handy" available off of the shelf?

Most laser cuting companies can profile up to 15mm mild steel, or you can water cut 15mm stainless. Material spec and/or their minimum order charge will determine cost. At a guess probably £35 + VAT Mild steel or £60 + VAT stainless. Shameless plug www.btbexhausts.co.uk

I can get 3" (75mm) ID x 10 mm thick flanges quite easily, but I need the flange to be 80mm ID x 15 mm, so it's a slightly non-standard flange, I've looked around but couldn't find anyone doing them in the sizes I need.

I've contacted the firms mentioned above, and I'll have a look in the yellow pages tonight for a fabricator, so hopefully I can get it sorted for reasonable money. smile

Thanks to everyone for their help. smile

On a water jet you can cut very thick steel. At Fabcon Projects LTD, Norwich, where I subbed for a few months they were cutting through 12" + thick steel, no problems. Doubt it would be cheap though. AJN Steel do laser cutting, much cheaper than wate-jet but not sure on what sort of thicknesses they can cut in S/S.
