Nice cars that you couldnt buy due to the awful interior

I think my repertoir of cars constitutes the worst interior to car ratio, Mk1 Focus, Evo 9, Porsche 928, Defender, so not a lot really puts me off.

Having said that, I once sat in a Monaro VXR and the first thing I thought was 'I could never spend 40 grand on this car'. The material quality and finish just seemed at odds with the size and nature of the rest of the car.

I'm sure it doesn't bother the owners but somehow I think a big, new, reasonably expensive needs at least a half decent interior

Almost anything with a "wooden" effect interior. Unless its an older/classic styled car, it just doesn't work.

Fabia vRS. The current Octavia vRS seats look pretty dire too with the white patches.

Oh, and the light grey leather that lots of Alfa GTs have - horrid. Who in their right mind specced that over black or red or tan?

Mk1 Focus RS has a bit of a "Halfords" interior look, with none of the individuality.

As at some point they must have had a job lot of Portland fking Grey leather in Blackpool and convinced everyone to have it plastered over the inside of their otherwise lovely car.

The majority of the Mercedes, Peugeot, Citroen and Honda ranges.

Bland and dire beyond belief.

Also I'm not a fan of the recent/current BMW interiors.
In a lot of them the dash looks sparse (basic) and some of the trim finishes are awful.

How can you say that about the 928!? Absolutely massive and with bank vault-esque construction it oozes class. Ok it's nothing too flamboyant but it was conceived in the 70s, in Germany.

Agree with the Octavia vRS - it's as if VAG deliberately made it cheap and tacky to force people into an Audi.

Also agree with the insipid Alfa grey, and the tan is a bit too orange-y.

My one has a blue dashboard. And blue vinyl rear quarter panels.

To be fair, it's not that bad, but it is seriously dated compared to the outside and the materials are not nice in places! It's solid, but that's about the only good thing that can be said about it!

I'm having it retrimmed in the near future, so that should improve matters... I'm thinking black alcantara dash

I like my interiors to function well while being well-made, so I like my Honda, but wouldn't like a Toyota, Nissan etc. Honda are a cut above other Jap makers, imo.

Can't beat a nice '80s German interior though!

Any BMW mini- Way too contrived. And any car with the speedo in a central position- I hate it (Mini scores poorly here, especially as the speedo is the size of a frisbee!). I'm not necessarily saying the interior is awful, but personally it would stop me buying an otherwise cool looking car.

Anything American has an awful interior unless you love the petrochemical industry.

I have to say the 350Z also let me down interior wise and made me question purchasing it.
