He had a great collection spanning Ferrari,s Porsche and a Jaguar XKSS amongst many others but what would appeal to the king of cool from the modern age do we think?

Porsche GT2? Ferrari Scuderia?

F599GTB - he wasn't flash, he had his Ferraris (and other cars, like his Mini) resprayed brown rather than red.

Toyota Prius....Hollywood sponsorship deal for US $ 10 million a year. Or maybe a Hummer / Range Rover Sport. I doubt he could get in and out of anything sporty if alive today!!

If he was in his prime today I think possibly a Mosler...Callaway Corvette or Porsche Carrera GT. It would certainly be a racecar for the road, not a Ferrari!

Me? No. I don't like the look of them..

It's fast, mean, and loud, with no fancy gadgets to keep it on the blackstuff...... What's wrong with that?

Alright, how about a Shelby Cobra?

He'd be unable to get away with anything except a Prius, Insight, Volt et al.

God I'm on one about the bleeding greens this morning.

And yet in his prime he did own Ferrari (and Porsche) road cars and not racecars...

I'm too young to remember how he was looked upon whilst he was still alive.

Whilst I'd like to imagine that he was looked upon highly by his peers, the media, and the general public (particularly car enthusiasts), there is a nagging doubt that some may have questioned his taste and choices of car.

I'd hope that his garage would be a sensible collection of cars from past and present like Jay Kay's, however maybe without the Rolls.

In my ideal world, he would drive nothing more special than an understated saloon, or maybe an AMG or M power offering - he would be close to 70 afterall. What we would see, however, on TV would be the McQueen Porsche prototypes rolling out to defend their LeMans crown, and the McQueen F1 team locked in a championship battle with the Brawns and the Red Bulls - I've no doubt what so ever that its on the track (or on the pit wall) that Steve McQueen would have become famous had he lived

How about a Cadilac STS-V? Understated (kind of!), but managed a 7:59.32 lap of the Nürburgring. Muscle car for the 00's?

Cheers,

FT.

laugh Re: Porsche or Ferrari. Please. Definitely not a showy badge!

It would be something with race bred, simple and bullit proof engineering - built to last.

I propose some kind of V8 propelled Yank beast in the vein of race car. Either old school, like a cobra or new like a Mosler... take your pick anywhere in between. However if I had to make a call it would be a Ford GT without any doubt at all.

NEXT!
