am I right in assuming that basically half the disc is gone, as in worn off? That's what it looks like....

How the bks did someone not notice that?

Was it a company vehicle and is the caliper knackered by chance?

I don't get it. Wouldn't the back be worn to buggery as well?

yes and no

Yes because it will still be in contact with the pads so will still be getting worn slowly

and no because once the front is worn to the point it hits the spines then where will much more force applied to one single spine than the back of the disc (if that makes sence). Thus wearing the spines quicker.
Or atleast thats how i see it in my head.

They look cool.
You could be on to something here, never mind the aftermarket fancy grooved discs.
This could be the future.

Jesus Christ! Just when you thought you'd seen it all before...

Any circumstances surrounding this? Failed caliper, or cretinous owner?

I'm guessing it's going to be a 115 year old woman who bought a 'nearly new' ex hire car about 15 years ago

EDIT - Just spotted the capacious calipers... I'll change my answer to a muppet getting a track day in before the service is due or a lease car that he's about to hand back

Seen something similar before, was a Mk4 Astra. Though that looks more like a Vectra caliper...

Oh come on, now we have to have the rest of the story! You cant just post that up there and leave us hanging.

How much of an idiot do you have to be not to notice that! And to do it between MOTs!

If we found that in our garage that disc would definitely be going in the 'Box of shame' bin of shockingly abused parts we keep to have a laugh at.

Would look brilliant next to the piston that's been cut neatly in half that would hehe
