Weird - I just posted this in General Gassing and the thread has not appeared!!

Firstly, mods I couldn't see a dedicated ICE section, and to be honest, I would appreciate this hitting as wide an audience as possible in the hope of finding a solution.

Secondly, I know this will sound dodgy as hell, but everything is kosher and I can provide proof if required.

We just bought my wife a second hand car from Evans Halshaw - I know, first mistake!

It is a Suzuki Ignis 1.5 GLX 4Grip. At some time the battery has been removed so the built in Blaupunkt stereo is looking for a PIN code.

EH gave me a code but when I tried this, it did not work. Now comes the fun part.

It seems, when trying to enter the code, the length of time between attempts increases as you go on (we have 7 remaining) but you MUST NOT SWITCH THE UNIT OFF DURING THE 'SAFE' PERIOD (i.e. immediately after you have entered an incorrect code) - guess what I did!

So now, Iit says I have 7 attempts remaining, but also says 'SAFE' instead of _ _ _ _ so it will not allow me to try a new code.

I spoke with the Suzuki garage earlier today and they said try 0000 or 1111 which I was planning to do but now it is locked I can't attempt that.

I am hoping there is a magic combination of keys to press which will unlock the PIN attempt again as I do not want to take it back to EH as they have scored the dash in 3 places when trying to remove it!

EH want to remove and send it back to Suzuki to be uncoded - I would rather fix it before this is required if at all possible.

I cannot see a model number on it, but it is double din sized, has a large volume knob in the centre with 4 arrow keys around it - I can try and source a pic if it helps.

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to discuss in a public forum - as I said, I can provide evidence to verify I have not just bought this in the local pub!

Cheers,

may be irrelevant, but on my old blaupunkt head unit, you didn't type in the pin like at the bank, you do the number of presses on the relevant position.

Like this:
code=3251
Don't hit 3251
the code is 111 22 33333 4

That's what I did - entered 7970 (the code I was given from the garage) but didn't work.

My problem is I switched it off whilst SAFE was displaying - having RTFM now it appears this is not the done thing.

I just need it to go back to asking for a code so I can try the others I have been given

Cheers,
Steven

You could try disconnecting the battery again, might reset it (just guessing really, but you've got nothing to lose).
