Two things,

Wheres a good recommendation to buy a stereo from? Is there a richer sounds equivalent for car stereos?

Also how come theres not a ICE forum (or whatever audio stuff is called nowadays)?

PH tends to be about performance, rather than sound systems.

That said, there is nothing wrong with a nicely set up system.

As for recommendations - do you want 6x9s and Xplod subwoofers - or a proper system?

I'll monitor this thread with interest... Although I suspect I'm in a slightly different market to the OP as all I'm interested in is a cheap as chips head unit with SD card & USB input.

I got a good one a few years back from Bluespot.co.uk I was looking for a cheapish stereo and all the associated stuff, Blaupunkt did the job, CD ipod easy to fit and use all for under about £90. Sorted.

Sure there are better places out there it depends on your car and how easy it is to replace the current one, but these are the only ones I have used and cant say anything bad about them.

talkaudio forums and caraudiodirect for buying, although I think talkaudio are very Alpine and CAD biased.

Thanks guys, - only need to replace the head unit as the current one has packed up. Really only want to spend less that £100.

Find a few models you like, and then copy and paste the model number into Froogle, set the "sort by" bit to cheapest first (you may get a few pages of unrelated stuff first) and hey presto, the cheapest price for that model on the net (probably)

You'd be amazed at what you can get for circa £100 at the minute, a friend of mine recently bought a nice Sony unit, with AUX input for an MP3 player, bluetooth connection which allows you to use the head unit as a hands free kit, mutes the music when you get a call etc, but also allows you to stream muic over the bluetooth connection.

Go and have a fiddle in Halfords, find one you like, then go and buy it for about 1/3 cheaper online at www.caraudiodirect.co.ukthumbup

I used to do installs professionally, and used www.caraudiosecurity.com for anything that I needed.
