I had a go in my mates dads C class today, he had it from brand new, the car is a X reg 2000 C240 Avantgarde, I drove this car when it was brand spanking new now the time has come after 254000 miles he has decided to part company with it so before he waves it farewell I had an afternoon using it and I cannot believe how well it still drives, the steering wheel is a bit worn, in fact very worn, the drivers seat is saggy but the car itself drives mint which is brilliant after 254k! It has NEVER let him down, It's a shame it's going because it still a lovely car the spec is:- Jasper Blue, AMG bumpers, side skirts and AMG five spoke alloys on the inside it has grey leather with driver and passenger electric memory, sat nav/command with telephone pack, this car is going make someone very happy because to look at it you would think it had done a quarter of the mileage that it's done combine all this with the price which £2000 I reckon the new owners got a bargain! It's got full MB service history with TWO fully stamped service books, it just shows if you look after them then they will look after you.

Has anyone else got something with mega miles that still drives good?

Motorway miles are very kind to cars, maybe better for those with de-stressed larger engines as they rev quite low (at 70 mph my 5 Series is barely revving at 2000). Most of the higher mileage cars I have come across have been in better condition than the same model with half the miles.

We've got an 04 plate Transit with 185k on the clock which drives better (and has a tighter feeling engine) than my old 150k mile Mondeo. You could honestly wind 100k off the clock, change the steering wheel and gearknob and nobody would suspect a thing.

Is it just me or does that E class look biblically overpriced?

The dirt on that dash is a good advert for a valeting and hand car wash place that costs from £7.50!
The one a couple of miles down the road from me costs from £3.50 and they are really good!

60k, which does not sound very much, but this is Ferrari F355, and this is considered quite high for a Ferrari.

Possibly, it looks in pretty damn good nick though considering it's done over HALF A MILLION MILES hehe It'd be interesting to cover up the odo and get a few people to drive it and take a guess at it's mileage smile

What kind of job would someone have that requires someone to do that many miles? eek anyone?

Airport collection run taxi. Some of them are like trucks - the engine only stops to put more diesel in...

I remember seeing a Porsche 911 3.2 with over half a million miles for sale recently. Sold for almost 15 grand IIRC.

If you rebuild the engine and the gearbox, and the consumables are replaced then surely it's not too much of an issue, especially if the miles are kind (probably not the case on our crappy roads).

yes Bloke that picked me up a couple of weeks ago had done a full day of collections, then picked up a first class passenger that evening who wanted to go to Kings Lynn from Heathrow (no distance limit for first class). He got in at 3am and was out of the house at 6am to collect me, then had another full day of collections bar a few hours off in the middle of the day.

Wasn't the most relaxing story to be told whilst a passenger.
