Hello,

I'm heading to Manchester Eye Hospital for a laser eye surgery checkup tomorrow and this is the first time I've been around this time of day.

Is traffic likely to be biblical? I usually go M56 -> that road with lots of speed cameras and a silly speed limit -> turn right at a brewery and go along a residential road with speed humps until I come out on Oxford Road -> turn left and proceed 200yards.

ie the route Garmin take me.

How much extra should I budget for the time of day? 30 minutes? An hour? Is there a better route?

Thanks.

In no uncertain terms, getting there for that time is an arse.

As an example, Eccles - st marys is roughly 15 mins clear, 45 + for 9 am. From the ringroad,I expect tat to be even worse.

As garmin says, avoid the inner ring road, if you're going in on Princess Parkway, I'd guess that route would be good enough.

Princess Parkway seems to ring a bell yes.

I think I will leave at 7 to be sure. Worst comes to worst I get there early and can park car at hospital and go and get a brew.

I'd check the United Utilities website as large parts of Oxford Road are completely closed as they are ripping up the pipes. I think you should be ok at the Eye Hospital, but better safe than sorry.

Traffic at that time will be disgusting, Deansgate is closed also so avoid that area if possible. If your coming up the M56, Id head straight down the parkway. Traffic will be murder going into town but it is probably the most direct route in. Either that or continue on to the M60 and go through stretford and up past old trafford, but that way will be bad also. Just allow plenty of time and you should be ok.

(edit coz my spelin iz wel bad)
