Was on the M40 thursday night - get flashed out the way by two 7 series, both on private plates with lights in the grills & L.E.D police sign in the back as they drove past. they were going at some pace too! not seen them with 7's before. specialist branch?

Private plates on unmarked police cars?

Uh oh...that's usually my main factor in deciding it's not an unmarked car...

Allow me, Von.

Why should it matter? If you keep to the speed limit you won't have to worry about it.

hehe

Given that the official car of the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police used to be (and maybe still is) AJ 1, you may find that is not a reliable guide.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

They get a really good deal on them.

In fact they get them for free, we pay for them.

perhaps diplomatic vehicles?

more likely to be ACPO rank (cheif officers) job cars which will be unmarked but have concealed lights, our chiefs have a variety of cars, audi a8, audi q5, rexus rx etc, i think they choose their own just like anyone else choosing a comapny car.

Yes, I saw it on the A171 heading towards Whitby, but that was about two or three years ago.

Best wishes all,
Dave.
