Im posting on behalf of my Dad here.
He bought a recon engine for his Mitsubishi warrior two weeks ago from these people www.partsplazaltd.co.uk
and just two weeks later, its blown up again this afternoon.
Now, it was too late to call parts plaza tonight, so im not trying to bad mouth them, but will he be fully covered on their warranty without any hassle?
He said their paperwork shows a 6 MOmonth warranty so I presume they should be fully covered?
Does anyone have experience with Parts Plaza?

Cheers

PNB

You might want to google their name, a quick search shows a somewhat concerning (for your old man at least) number of people complaining about them.

those complaints do seem a tad concerning.
However, it also looks like it may be sour grapes from a competitor.
Hopefully they will honour their warranty when my Dad speaks to them tomorrow.

I doubt it was reconditioned, not many people rebuild engines, there is a site here.

Hi Andy.

Yes, he definitely did pay with a credit card.
So if the garge plays up, should he contact his credit card company about it straight away?

Thanks a lot for your reply mate

yeh the engine I bought wasn't even sold as rebuilt just tested, It arrived with a spun shell. the breaker agreed to send another engine but wouldn't pay the mechanic to fit it so we went through the CC.

It really wasn't fair that I ended up out of pocket for their mistake

Out of interest - is there any long term repercussion for a company/supplier that has people issuing charge backs through the credit card company? Do the credit card company increase the costs to the merchant or something to cover any losses they may incur?

They can pull the facility if there are enough chargebacks in relation to the total number of transactions (havent a clue what the percentage is though)

Quick update.

My Dad is busy all day today, so his usual mechanic is dealing with Parts Plaza on is behalf.
He called them today and they went straight on the defensive accsuing the mechaninc of having a go at them, refusing to give their name, etc.
After promising (and failing) to call the mechanic back, he called them.
After much persuasion PP said they would have the motor recovered but at my Dads expense (about £150) FFS! and then look at it, but would not promise they would rectify any faults.
The mech. told them my Dad wont be paying, and that he would not allow them to collect it without agreeing to foot the bill.
Its under a 6 month warranty, and only been driven a few days before it blew FFS!
They said they would speak to their recovery department, then call the mechanic back.

So, should my Old Man just go straight to the Credit Card issuer, and if so, how straight forward is the process, and is he guaranteed to get his money back (just under £3k)?
Also, I dont like the idea of this bunch of idiots doing this to anyone else, so what steps can be taken?

Cheers

He's gonna call them tonight.
Also, the warranty will be scanned and mailed to me tonight, so I'll forward it to you if it's still OK?
