Hello folks, bit of a mini rant plus a plea for help, bear with me, its a long story, ill try and keep it short.

June 2008 i ordered a new merc sprinter, through "abcde vans", van was delivered from "12345 merc dealer" to me and financed through "**** finance"

All delivered, put too work, no problems, come august 08 i realised id not had V5 yet, rang abcde vans, told to ring 12345 merc dealer, asked where V5 was, told van in name of **** finance, i asked what about when tax due next june, oh they will send you reminder.

Happy days, skip forward to june 09, no reminder comes so i ring **** finance to be told nope, we dont have your V5, spend rest of day on phone to all the above, nobody any idea where v5 is, so ring the DVLA, they tell me van is not registered in my name, but wont tell me whos name it is in. They tell me the only thing i can do is pay £25 and re register it, making me the 2nd owner(on a van i own already).

Tell them no way, head off to police station, tell them the story, yes they confirm im not named on V5, and guess what, cant tell me who is, sit there for 2 hrs until someone with a bit of noddle comes in, he decides to leave the room, but not before turning the screen round so i can see whos name it is in, at last someone with some common sense.

Turns out its part of **** finance, only the outer mongolian branch, well not far off. So, get in touch with them at last, oh yes, we have your v5, the muppets.

With only 3 days until end of june and tax due they say they will tax van for me, ill pay them and they will then notify DVLA of mistake and ill get new V5 asap.

Happy days, new tax disc turns up, put in van and wait for new V5, after about 2 weeks i happen to notice the new tax disc ends end of may 2010, not june, its only been taxed for 11 months.

Ring DVLA, sorry, van not in your name, cant help, ring **** finance to be told we have sent stuff off to DVLA so wait 6 weeks for new docs to arrive.

Jump forward to now, 8 weeks after all this, still no docs,DVLA are about as much use a father christmas, computer says pay the £25 and reregister,**** finance deny all knowledge of ever having had the V5, van dealer and supplier are waste of space.

So looks like il be the 2nd owner on my own van, what a stupid fking ahole of a stty country we live in, wkers the lot of them, its tough enough running a small company in the st times, without s like this getting in the way.

So, any advice folks, i know my spelling and grammer is dodgy, and ive no pics and no need to break any back doors in, infact my rants only worth a 1/10 id say.

Do your worst

Just read through this and i dont make it clear that its a mistake that the van is registered in **** finance name, it should be in my name, it was the van dealers fault.

Fair play to the policeman, a lot of jobsworths would have kept you waiting around for a lot longer and got you nowhere. Nightmare of a situation to be in really, I guess you will be getting bounced from pillar to post!

DVLA up to thier tricks again.

This time i have a van in northern ireland, want to sell it to the lad who works it for me over there, however it has a private plate on it which id like put on retention.

DVLA say van must come back across irish sea, be taxed and moted over here, then taken to my local office, then they can help.

So in short, they want me to drive a van 600 miles, plus use a ferry, and they keep telling us to save the fking planet and not use roads.

The s, i fking give up, i really fking do.

These s will be the death of me one day im sure

Have you tried calling Mercedes customer care and telling them what a bunch of incompetent tts you have had to deal with? Maybe worth a quick (!) call...
