Anyone else have relatives that commentate during a car journey?

I have one that seems to describe everything that is going on during the journey, despite how benign. Examples would be:

- Ooh that girl was driving with all her windows down
- Look at the speed of that car, he'll definately kill someone
- Did you see that child in the back of the car? He didn't have his belt on.
- We travlled on this road when we went to "xyz" recently

Then there's the "petrol price" commentary.

This relative comments on the price of the fuel at EVERY petrol station.

"oooh 109.9..... it was 109.8 back there.... 109.10 !!!! That's extotionate, it was 109.7 yesterday"

Anyone else subjected to this on a journey ? WHY ?

Only one answer - give them a pair of roller skates and a rope tied to your back bumper

My niece is 4YO, and she pointed out about the price of fuel whilst I was looking after her for the day

Although she got the diesel and unleaded numbers mixed up....but still she's a little petrol head biggrin

Which is surprising since her parents aren't, must be my influence hehe

The price must have gone down

109.10 is 0.90 less then 110.0 wink

Mrs JM knows it annoys me if she keeps pointing out speed cameras, but she can't help it. So now she draws my attention to them by way of topical conversation. "Isn't it terrible with the petrol going up gain, as if they're not raking it in enough from all these SPEED CAMERAS" (whilst pointing at the offending item), "and if that's enough they've got to place them one after another (pointing again) to try and catch people out". She's developed quite an array of random observations to bring them to my attention hehe

I've been told not to point out interesting cars as nobody is interested.

On the contrary, this could be my only way of stopping it!

Strikes me that sebo's problem is not that his relatives commentate on the journey, but that they are mind-numbingly boring....

As a kid I was told not to point out ANY cars ... look a Maxi and there's a Herald and oh another brown Cortina and isn't that Zephyr like Auntie Janice's and what's that car with the sloping back window? etc and ad infinitum apparently

Still do it when I'm on my own
