Can't see anything on Atlas Pro to indicate that it's anything other than weight of traffic plus roadworks equals queues.

It's always like that on Friday evenings to think about most evenings but Fridays are worst.

The average speed cameras make it even worst as people slam on brakes at every gantry and people do 50 to 60 in every lane around it even when the signs are off, it’s the most horrible road ever, but I have to use at least twice a week it drives me mad. mad

How come every time the M25 is a disaster I end up taking A roads and it's nowhere near as much of a disaster?

Are you are talking about clockwise?
If so, we got stuck in that too.

I noticed a couple of police cars and a few bystanders in the coned off area, just into the roadworks, past the M40 turn.
Once clear of them, it was moving pretty well.

Probably had some kind of "incident" there.

I look back with wistful nostalgia to the days when they were widening the M25 and putting in the Heathrow T5 access. 50mph roadworks through which one could almost invariably waft at 50mph because almost everyone else had decided in advance it would be a pig, and taken alternative routes. smile
