Summer Nights Ruined?
Discussion
Driving out of Oxford the other day I noticed a banner had been put up in both directions on a bridge over the A40 near the A40/M40 junction that said "Summer nights ruined here due to road noise" or very similar words. These people seriously didn't expect to buy a house near the DC NSL A40 and for it to be silent did they? Surely that would factor into your decision when buying a house?!
I can only presume the people who put banners up like this don't drive or take public transport anywhere so as to not make any noise near anyone elses house - or am I being a bit unreasonable and should be sympathetic to the plight of these poor suffering people?

Like those morons who moved the Castle Combe and then tried to get the track closed. It was there before you idiots.
I vaguely remember that one of the complained about circuits put out a fake schedule out saying "Racing on days X Y and Z this month", where the place was actually closed on those days.Apparently, the complaining residents complained about the noise from there, on those days.
Says it all really about the majority of the complainants....

Someone should hang a banner underneath it saying "What do you expect if you move house close to a busy A road you retard?????"
and then, and then, right....someone should hang a banner under that one too, until no traffic can get through at all, because of all the f

Similar to the people who turned up at a public exhibition we were running for a motorway widening project in central Scotland. Currently 3 lanes each way, we're widening it to 4 lanes each way. They turned up on the basis of being residents adjacent to the scheme and were complaining about hte excessive noise that would result. Didn't really want to get into an argument over the fact that THEY MOVED NEXT TO THE MOTORWAY!! The motorway has been around for decades, it hasn't just popped into existence overnight. We've also shown that the traffic growth will be minimal and that the widening will result in reduced conjestion so cars / trucks won't be next to their house for nearly as long to make all the noise they're complaining about (and we've done noise tests as well).

Similar situation - A few years ago (Ok about 10) our local nightclub Studio Valbonnes (attached to Skindles Hotel) was shut down.Skindles had been going a few hundred years and Studio Valboness was very famous back in the day and was frequented by the likes of the Rolling Stones in the 70's.
It was shut down due to noise complaints by the neighbours .... all living in relativly new build houses attached to the side of the nighclub which they had bought, knowing it was there.
WTF do you expect when you move to a house attached to a nightclub!
