I will be moving from Aberdeen to London in a few days, with my mum taking me down in the car (for moving everything down). To give her a break from driving I was wondering about getting insurance for the day to drive the car some of the way (Vauxhall Meriva 1.7 CTDi). However the companies that I've seen all require you to be 23 years or older. Is there any companies that people know that would insure for a 21 year old guy, and if so approximately how much would it be? Clean licence and passed 2 years ago.

Cheers,

Jeremy

In a word, no.

The only realistic option is to purchase a years insurance on a monthly payment plan, pay the deposit, then cancel it using the 14 day cooling off period.

I got stuck in Wales on a sunday unable to contact my preferred insurer to organise insurance after buying a car, so rang Direct Line and did exactly that.

Alternatively, get her to ring her InsCo, and add you on for a weekend - should be £20 at the most.
