cheating ncp car parks

sooo was in brighton the other day with huge hangover and parked in a ncp carpark. being in a slight daze at the barrier, when the car in front went forward I followed him. I was supposed to take a ticket but did not. panicking about having to pay for a lost ticket I tried to find someone to help. Noone was around so I walked back up to the ticket machine ( several cars had gone through..) and pressed the ticket button. Now i presumed they would have some sort of weight check thinghy but no - a ticket came out.

soooo if one is staying for 24hrs at an ncp car park can you just walk up to the ticket barrier and get a new ticket and just pay for 20 mins???????????????

Sounds way to simple and obvious for them not to have a way of preventing you doing this. Are you sure you dont weigh a tonne?

If your motor is already inside the carpark and you have another car then you are golden.

Drive up, take a ticket, reverse, drive up again, take another ticket. Pay 30 mins on both tickets and drive the two cars out...

I have tried getting a second ticket at a few car parks (heathrow short stay and a few others) they won't give you a ticket without a car. I always thought I would just wait for someone to pull up and quickly press the button and take their ticket and validate that....no one has really lost anything (well, except NCP) as the original person can just reverse, drive forward and get another ticket.

Someone I know went through an NCP car park and ripped the overhead NCP 'height restriction' sign off with a dislodged ski bar. An accident resulting in a nasty dent in the roof and a hasty exit...Take that, NCP!

I spend £4 a day at an NCP car park..I'm guna give this a try, if it works I'll save loads!

Apparently at the car parks where you get 10 mins free (in case there aren't spaces), the chav thing to do is stop at the exit get one of your little sts to hop out the car and grab a ticket from the machine as another car pulls in.

Try £12 for 4 hours in Oxford. Sounds like I've got some experimenting to do!

Whatever you do, don't drive up to the barrier, take the ticket and reverse out not going into the car park. Then, please do not then use that ticket to pay for 30 minutes parking and then remove the car that you didn't park in the car park for the previous 2 weeks when you hadn't gone on holiday with some friends whilst conveniently "loosing" the ticket that you got 2 weeks ago....

No, doing that would be all bad...

If it's the NCP in the centre of Oxford it's not unknown for some rugby playing student type to deploy one of their number 1 level up who can then jog over to the barrier and modify it to speed up access.
