I know traffic queues are an occupational hazard of using roads, and I should have allowed more time, etc etc, but I was held up for about just over half an hour yesterday, and when I got to the restauarant, they had cancelled my reservation and given it to someone else, with no tables due for another hour at least.

Just one of those things I thought.

Until today.

The reason the road was closed was because some local 19-year-old-loveable-rogue-chav-rat-soldier-boy had killed himself and seriously injured his passenger by driving like a cocktard at 3am earlier in the day. The road wasn't still closed from that clean up, no. It had been closed, twice, by the police so the relatives could lay bdin' flowers in the middle of the road!!

FFS.

As expected, the Facebook tribute page is already up, with the usual indecipherable text speak and cliches.

I understand why the family would want to lay flowers but they could have done that by the side of the road not the middle??
just another example of common sense not being used!!

A simple search of this young lads name within the sentinel website reveals that perhaps he was a little more than a 'loveable rogue'. It seems that he was perhaps something of a regular with the local Magistrates and Crown courts.
That said, it is recognised that he has left behind friends and family that will mourn their loss.

Completely stupid situation, and caused huge disruption to a great many people - and that doesnt include his family shutting down the road again...

Sorry, heartless maybe - sensible letting a family lay flowers in the middle of a busy commuter road fcensoredg bonkers.

Now lets hear the usual outrage from these people about the cloud of pollution caused by this pointless carry on rolleyes

How in gods name do these people get permission to do this sort of thing? And, whats wrong with laying the flowers at his grave?

Young guy drives badly and dies. An age old story and one that is sad, as despite your turgid rant he will have had a family and friends who will miss him badly.

Sorry you missed your dinner reservation...glad you feel that you are so important.

No, a sensible person.

You on the other side are a great example of stupidity.

Let me explain it to you - IT'S A fkING ROAD!!!!!!!! YOU DRIVE ON IT, NOT LAY FLOWERS.

You got it now?

Unbelivable, but sadly sums up the state of our nation.

Next to nobody turns out for Rememberance day, or to welcome troops home, but the police will close a major road twice 'cause some low life kills himself, probably through excess speed, drink or drugs.

Makes you proud to be british!!!

I think I feel more satisfaction at being a "self-important prick", than being a career criminal who kills himself, and very nearly his best mate by driving like a twunt!!

The A500 is a dual carriageway if I'm not sadly mistaken, so in closing the road and allowing limited access the Police have stopped his relatives and friends from visiting the scene adhoc over the weekend. This will have been done in the interests of safety given the speed of the road and the common practise of people laying flowers at the scene of an accident.

Makes sense to me. But then I am probably stupid and hey, I made my dinner reservation last night so probably also do not understand the pain and suffering that may cause to the OP.

Awww you missed your dinner, hold on let me dust of my violin...

Yes the guy was probably a dick, yes it wasn't a greet decision

You lost your dinner they lost a family member or friend, whos never coming home.

How do you know he was driving like a cocktard? Lets hope your son/daughter/boyfriend doesn't die in a similar scenario and then every man and his dog jumps to conclusions because what they read on the internet, lets not forget local papers never get things wrong or embellish the truth do they...

Ok so you got reading ok. Lets try comprehension next time.

Missing dinner because of fatal crash = OP Accepts it happens.

Missing dinner because Police have closed road so someone can lay flowers in the road = OP and normal people going rolleyes

Ok so he was an idiot, but many of us if not all of us have driven stupidly at some stage of our youth. Being late for dinner? Come on, you are looking like a complete .

I understand that, but for the op is way out of line thinking his dinner was way important than another humans life.

Hope he chokes the next time he manages to get a table.
My dinner was not worth more than some-ones life, but it was far more higher up my list of priorities than a bunch of flowers being left in the central reservation.

I'll also remember to check for fish bones, thanks for the heads-up!

yes

Nice to know that getting a good meal is more important than providing a family with a little closure and opportunity to pay their respects.

Doesn't look like a at all to me, sounds totally spot on.

I'd be pissed if I missed an appointment because the road was closed so people could walk around on it to lay some flowers.
