Yes they are a Michelin development. They allow much better control of the whole contact patch as it's coupled to the wheel across it's entire width, unlike a regular tyres where it's only coupled at the sidewall.
Only problem I can see is that what happens if you have massive brakes...?

k what??? I assume if they become a commercial product they will get a sidewall and be a bit more "normal" but for press release purposes an inovative tyre and wheel that looks like a normal wheel and tyre isn't going to get much coverage.Engineer1 said:
