Absolutely shocking, wasn't expecting anything that severe. That guard rail looks as though is went straight through more than just the drivers legs.

Don't think leaving your legs behind technically counts as getting out in one piece...

Why are the dials showing a reading? Do they stick at the speed the impact occurs or something as an aid to the crash investigation? If so it looks like he hit the rail at about 60...

Being weak of stomach (have to close my eyes walking past the butchers...) I didn't wade through all the photos, but I find myself wondering if there's a better answer to the problem of crash barriers; one which doesn't involve paying such a high price?

I love mid engined cars, but I cant help but think a big lump of metal in front of him might have helped deflect it.
