Someone who did not allow for the slippy conditions has gone into my car whilst it was parked in the street.

I'd estimate the damage at around £1500 but hey I'm no expert but I have contacted the driver who is going to talk to their insurance co tomorrow.

Now do I have to inform mine even though I'm only TPFT and how would this effect my no claims?

I currently have max NCB and have not made a claim in the car's lifetime of 12 years.

This is gonna screw up Christmas a bit especially as I think it's not drivable.

I think you do need to inform yours. Also, they will claim your damages from the third party on your behalf, using your legal cover if you have it and it is necessary.

If there are no witnesses and the other party denies it then I don't know what your chances are.

I would adivse you to tell your insurers - they can help you to recover your costs from tp's insurers.

Have been in touch with my insurance co and hers. Mine put me straight onto some dodgy little company that wanted to pick mine up right now and take it to some garage I don't know and give me some stty little hire car. They also said that mine would probably be written off and went through terms and conditions so quickly as there were loads of situations that would involve me spending money.

Her company kindly took my details but added that she had not yet reported it.

Fek! so no car and a paltry amount of cash that will not get me into anything as good. I have had that car since new and know everything about it, it's worth more as a car than as cash.

Righting off a perfect BMW 323i SE with only 75K on the clock just because of a dent in the N/S wing that won't let the passenger door open is heresy in my book.mad

Taking it to my BMW specialist garage to get an estimate and then see if she would be happy to pay me cash. Probably not but if I were in her shoes I'd do anything to keep claim free.

BTW if it goes through insurance and even if it is non-fault in my case, I assume that my motorcycle insurance renewal will be a nightmare next year.

PS a hire car means having to go to the local council to beg for a temp permit that only lasts a week.

Rant over.

Get in touch with an accident management company. They will be able to advise on such actions as insisting the vehicle is repaired, a fair replacement vehicle spec etc smile

As already said above - get in touch with Anniesdad (Steve Greensmith) who runs www.europaconsultants.co.uk - his direct dial is on the contacts page. I wouldn't use anyone else for a non-fault accident.

Question for anyone that knows, for her insurance company has contacted me and, once it has the estimate, are happy to have the repairs done at my local specialist.

So I need not involve my insurance company, so do I have to declare it as a claim when I am insurance hunting next year.

Cheers.
