Just been given a parking ticket in Paris, but heading back to Blighty this afternoon.

Has anyone been given a parking ticket in Paris or France in general, not paid, in our case 35 euros, and been chased, for that amount or a larger one.

Thanks

Sorry if this is in the wrong place mods, if so could you move it to somewhere more appropriate.

I'm sure I saw a thread on here saying they could now have access to our details (or would shortly). Maybe worth doing a search??

Good luck whatever!!

Cheers

I would assume (but don't know for sure) that if they've given a parking ticket to a car with UK plates, then they must have the mechanism to recover the fine.

I think that was to do with speeding tickets by gatso type machines. I believe the DVLA agreed to work with the French and German equivalents to share information and enforcement powers to reduce the amount of speeding on the French motorways. I can't remember exactly but statistically us and the Germans were by far the worse for it.

EDIT- I know that my council cannot enforce parking tickets for foreign plated and registered cars. There was a bit of a local issue about it because of the number of polish cars on the roads.

Statistically we are the worst, but then again they don't pull over the french cars so their misdemeanors aren't in the statistics for comparison...

dont take my word for it but lots les mecs have the strange habbit of taking the ticket from the car. did you really seen a ticket on your car or did you just imagined it?
about the gatsos i was caught doing 110 kph in a 90 area (motorway kept changing the limit every 10 km and i had the car in cruise control, didnt noticed the change) and i was flashed. dont know if it was either because i was so close to the limit or because they didnt bothered about it, but i never got any letter from them

I've had *loads* in Amiens and a few in Brussels over the years - nothing ever happens.

Last time I looked the agreement on licence endorsements hadn't been ratified.

I still owe for a parking ticket and a phone bill in Paris from 1990.

I wouldn't worry about it if I was you.

Twenty years ago, when I was a backpacking yoof we met a couple of English girls in Paris. They had parked their car down a tiny back street, where they thought it wouldn't get seen. Fast forward a week, and when they went to go home, they discover the windscreen is literally covered in parking tickets. They were crapping themselves that they would get stopped as they were getting on the boat. It never happened, and they never heard another thing about them. That was a long time ago though.
Two years ago, I got flashed in roadworks on the A6 en route to Val Thorens. Same thing, never heard another word about it.

If it makes it all equal when in the UK I don't pay parking fines, congestion charge and drive through every camera I can find with 2 fingers up..... in a French registered car of course!!

Never hear a thing from them!!

In the bin. You weren't in Paris, remember? Someone made a mistake or your car was cloned in the unlikely event they contact you.
Even if they chase this then in the worst case scenario it's going to go to a collection agency who you can also ignore.

As very few parisians pay their parking fines I don't see why we should. I used to live there, had a UK reg'd car and several tickets I never paid.

They are a lot more reasonably priced in Paris (if there is such a thing!). I have relatives there and if you overstay on a pay and display the fine is 8 euros. Compared to £80+ in London.
