I was cleaning the car today & discovered a drawer under the passenger seat. I have owned the car for a year - so it was quite a surprise!. So I opened it & found a top notch panasonic camcorder/case/charger. I thought I was in the wrong car for a moment!. I got the car from a dealer, it was previously owned by the manufacturer so I do not know who the actual 'owner' was.
So should I keep it - or try to return to its former keeper?!

If Cock Womble's been in the car you might want to just hand it straight back.

What would you want the owner of the car to do if it was your property?

I meant the car. Saves your paranoia throughout your tenure of ownership.

Well I did take a look, no important stuff like babies/weddings. No 'home movies with artistic content'. But something potentially embarrasing!!

I once bought a nearly new Fiesta and noticed the horn wasnt working.Rather than go to the trouble of taking it back to the dealer I thought there may be a loose connection in the steering wheel boss,so pulled the cover off and found a pair of knickers

Fair point, I'll try to track them down. I would have thought that they would have tracked me down if they wanted it as it was their car sold through their dealer!.

Once found a camera XD memory card while cleaning out my new to me car. I hesitantly took a look as I was dreading finding some disturbing images, but it wasn't anything bad at all, not for me anyway. The nude young lady in the pics would have probably thought otherwise. I deleted the images and kept the card as a spare.

A friend used to work in a main dealer garage as a mechanic and one of the workshop guys found a stack of photos in a customer's car. It was the lady owner of the car "posing" with a Labrador Retriever and lets just say the dog was wearing more than she was!!. He offered to show me a photocopy of the pics that they made but I declined his generous offer.

Do what any responsible guy would, post the video online...or at least describe it to us in great detais! wink

But in all seriousness, try your best to find out who's camera it is, not only is it a good start to 2010 for you, but think how you'd feel had you lost something that expensive! What goes around, come around. smile

No, you've misread his post. He said he couldn't get the horn until after he found the pair of knickers.

Thats what I have done now, so might just get to heaven. Im not just going to give it to the dealer as it has a good chance of them keeping it. The car was supposedly a managers car at their head office before i got it. So I have asked for them to contact him/her and gave my number to call if they have lost something. But in reality it was probably used by a number of people rather than 'managers car salesman guff' so i'm not really expecting a call.

Probably already claimed on their insurance. If they'd wanted it or wanted to be embarrassed by what was on it, they'd have looked for it.

I had an A4 and discovered the under-seat storage months into the ownership purely by chance. Very clever place to store stuff!

Found a fully integrated and function bluetooth kit in my (3 year old at the time) car. Previous owner didn't know a thing about it!
