Anyone else noticed how bad some of the roads are now the salt and grit have eaten half the roads away.
Is it just the local and A roads that are effected? I drive the M25 on a daily basis and see no holes. Do they use higher quality tarmac on the motorways.

Bring on the roadworks and higher council tax bills:-(((

Don't worry, your road tax will cover all repairs in a speedy and efficient fashion.

Erm.....

I think you might its cause by the ingress or soaking through of water, then freezing, causing expandion and lifting the tarmac surface. Something like that anyway...

It's a Green initiative. You can blame Globular Warming.

If the councils let roads deteriorate enough they can simply reclassify them as Green Lanes rolleyes

One pothole in our village has doubled in size over the winter.

Local council has been complaining that they have no money. Everyone else is wondering why? Council tax here has gone up every year, but our bin service was cut (once every 2 weeks now), they now charge if you have call out an exterminator for wasps nests or mice/rats (it used to be free if you called the council), they closed the care home that they owned around here, and they keep trying to cut down their contract for the local bus service.

So how they can be broke when they keep reducing services while making us pay more I have no idea. Clearly someone in the local office isn't very good at maths (or is a little too good at maths if you get my drift).

Coupled with the fact they aren't properly re-filled in the first place

What if you made your own road works sign, pull on some badly fitting jeans and hard hat and fixed the holes yourself. Is this against the law? what could the council do?

Well you'd have to stand around doing nothing for the first 2 days, apart from holding the traffic up.

They have an interesting way of doing things in Kirklees. If you report a pot hole, the Council sends someone out to place a traffic cone in it. Very good. Now I can't even have it pass under the middle of my car. Would it not make more sense to send out the nominated cone distributor with a shovel load of tarmac instead?

It won't take much more for the roads around here to disintegrate to dirt tracks. Should be much smoother then.

No no no, that would be far too productive.

Theres some absolutely shocking ones in Leeds.

Anybody commute from M1 Southbound onto the M621? As you pass under that tunnel and the lane meets you from the right?

Well theres a pothole under there that is so big, I saw a car actually fall into it today. Whoosh, and it was gone.

I'm gonna put some signs up and call it 'Middleton caverns', stick some spotlights up and take people on tours of it on a wooden boat.

Then we can all buy Landrovers to tramp about in.

Oh no wait, they want to ban green-laning aswell...

A44 from Moreton-in-March to Broadway was like running the gauntlet yesterday! Maybe it's the new way to enforce a 50 limit - 'cos it's too dangerous to go any faster!
