Mods, not sure where to put this for maximum exposure......

I have a need for someone to come round and wash my taxis on a Saturday during the day. Ideally it would suit a schoolboy/girl looking for some pocket money - a fair wedge actually!

It would typically involve washing the outside but not a major wash, wax and shine just clean. And hoovering out the inside/wipe down dash and trim.

My question is this, what should I be paying? I'm happy to pay a fair wage for the job. It would probably involve a Merc Vito, Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, C5 and perhaps a 407SW or two.

What do you think?

Christ almighty, when I was a kid (about 20 years ago) we got 50p per car!!

A tenner a car?? I'd have had a new bike a damn sight sooner than I did if I got that kind of cash!!!!

Pretty much what I thought.

If I was a lad of 14, £30 or £40 for a Saturday morning would be brilliant.

I'd say a tenner a car is good money and will keep the whipper snapper motivated and hopefully do a better job and not ring in sick every other weekend after a heavy one down the park the night before!

Pay around £50 at end of the morning. That'll keep them motivated.

20ish years ago I used to get around £5 per car, depending on size.
That would take around 30 mins, wash & dry.
10 quid an hour? that's more than I earn now frown

I'd say £5 a car and an extra fiver if it's a good job overall.

A lot of polish hand car washes charge £5 for a quick wash, so bearing in mind you are providing materials etc, £5 for a bit more work sounds reasonable.

I would offer it for £25. They could get the lot done in 4 hours, and be pissed by 1 o'clock.

Would suit someone under 15years i reckon. You might need to show them hwo to do it though... like hoover first, then wash from top to bottom, then wheels, then glass with clean water and cloths.....

£50 is way to much in my opinion. You could get the poles to smack the arse out of it in about 20min a car with wheel gloss, glass cleaner and a mmillion cloths......

I think you should pay per hour not per car. £30 for 0900 to 1300 would be generous and should see all the cars done.

Fiver per car + £5 at the end of the day 'bonus' if they complete the job to a high standard.

Say one car takes 30-45mins (max) that means they're getting >£7.50p/h

If you compare it against the going rate for jobs for 16/17 year olds, that's a pretty substantial wage.
