Zytek Opens Up Factory For Charity - UPDATE
Racing constructor offers factory tour to raise money for Haiti disaster
Racing constructor Zytek Engineering is opening its factory doors this weekend in an effort to raise money for the Haiti earthquake relief effort.
Zytek builds LMP1 sports prototype racing engine and chassis. This year it is building the LMP1 Ginetta that Nigel Mansell and his two sons will be using to compete in the 2010 ALMS series.
Zytek is planning to open its engine/chassis facility in Repton, Derbyshire tomorrow (Saturday) for a tour. Arrival time is around 10.30am for a two-hour tour, and possibly a coffee and a biscuit at the end.
If you're interested, Zytek is asking for a minimum donation of £10 per person, but numbers are limited to around 20 and places will allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you want to have a butcher's around the Zytek facility in the name of a good cause, then drop an e-mail to andy.young@zytek.co.uk.
UPDATE: Zytek's first charity tour was such a success that they're opening their doors again this Saturday (30th Jan) see the comments thread below for the latest information.
I've sent an emial off to Andy Young and stated my interest in the hope that it adds to a lot of emails stating there interest as well but equal prediciment. Maybe by doing this Zytek would consider opening the doors to a few more?
I went to Le Mans 2009 and really enjoyed seeing Ginetta Zytek storming round the track!

May i say a " Huge " thank you to everyone that came to our Zytek factory tour. I realise it was a bit short notice and hopefully we can do something else if i can twist a few arms. I do hope you all enjoyed it and be sure that the money raised will be doing some good to the people of Haiti.
Thanks very much to the guys at Pistons heads for making it front page news at very short notice.
Kind regards
Andy young
A quick note to say thanks to you, Richard and the rest of the Zytec staff who took the time out to guide / chat / pinch the biscuits on todays tour of the factory.
I hope you get the opportunity to do something similar again soon as i found the tour both interesting and a good insight into a modern motorsport environment away from the circuit.
Thanks again and all the best for the season ahead.
As before, it's all in aid of relief for the people of Haiti, and the minimum donation suggested is a tenner. It's limited to around 25 places based on a first-come-first-served system.
if you want to go along drop an email to andy.young@zytek.co.uk, although Andy has asked us to remind everybody that Zytek's IT crew have put a block on hotmail and Yahoo e-mails due to spam, so apologies for any inconvenience there.
It should be a good morning out, if the response to last weekend's tour is anything to go by - wish I could make it up there!
