Which places that you've been to that show total of disgust of cars? I spent some time in such a place over the last couple of days and im interested to see how many of you mention the same place.

Oxford. Full of sheep drivers too who all got very upset with me as I inadvertently drove down the bus lane, coming off the roundabout which wasn't sign posted until 300m were up. Cyclists everywhere and buses with a couple of people on them during rush hour, and despite that most of the commuters were in cars.

Bristol. If they can make it difficult for drivers, they do. Bus lanes, cycle lanes, one way systems, you name it. Frikkin lentil munchers.

Cambridge? You are a murderer to even THINK of owning a car let alone drive one.

Brilliant isn't it? Here's a lovely cycle path but no bugger can use it because if you do, you get mugged. Genius.

Very true. I only realised how bad it was down there recently when my DS at work confessed to having been subject to a recent attempted robbery on the cycle path- In the middle of the afternoon. If a hulking 6ft 2 rugby playing Police officer is fair game... Eeek.

I agree Oxford is bad and I live on the outskirts of the city so I should know. Thinking about moving to Norfolk to get some open road & clean air.

29 out of Cambridge's 42 city councillors are Liberal Democrats.

Your posts always wind me up and make me hate the UK again- destroying the rose tints that were being regenerated.

I remember driving in Oxford years ago-and you can just 'feel' the hate.
I'm not sure if there's a similar car-hating place here in the USA.

I don't know why anyone would even want to drive a car through the city centre - narrow streets, lots of one ways, lots of pedestrians. M11 right round the place or park and walk (get to see more that way anyway).

How many of the students did you chat to? Must have been quite a few of them to decide the city is full of lefties with chips on their shoulders. Must have taken you ages to get a decent sample size.

What walk with the entire contents of my van in a duffle bag? Like some sort of plumber snail.

Fair enough, you need to be there with a van for work. Hard luck, time to work out the easiest (not most direct usually in Cambridge) route.

Watch out for all those "lefties" wink
