Recouping petrol costs?

I do a 200 mile journey quite often and was wondering how I could make this journey more productive. For example last week I volunteered to take a rescue dog 150 miles as it was en route. Are there any avenues I could explore to take parcels/people etc in order to recoup a bit of the petrol costs? I looked on a website called imoveit but it doesn't seem to be very popular. Any ideas?
