Front fog abusers - is it beyond hope now?
Discussion
In my area in Essex front fog use is now almost accepted as a normal state of affairs. No matter who does it: chav, dopey blonde in 4x4, shopping trolley mum, white van, minicab or exec cruiser, they're all at it.
Is there any hope of ridding ourselves of this menace since the police haven't enforced the law or should we accept the blinding lights of "special" people are here to stay?
Personally I say get the b
ds off the c
ing roads until they can learn how to drive properly, but nobody listens to me

Same up here mate, why the hell don't the manufactures make them so once the ignition is turned off they don't come back on again, that way when the police stop them (if they ever do) then they can't say "sorry officer I didn't know they were on" them that put them on are t
s in my opinion, cool, NO I don't think so.
s in my opinion, cool, NO I don't think so.I drive with mine on and my standard of driving is perfect. So if you have a big issue with it then lets be honest. If thats my only flaw then you should count yourself lucky.Im insured/taxed/car maintained fully so i would find your or other peoples poor standard of driving/lack of tax/lack of mot/lack of maintainece to be more of an issue. Please lets rid these forums of what car/fog lights and badging etc.Pistonheads is better then that.Isnt it ?.

Are you really insured when contravening the lighting regs laws by using fogs? And yes PH is better than anything as petty as you describe - that wasn't my intention with the thread - I guess it's the number of modded bright fogs, 4x4 fogs which are at a higher level and consequent use of parking lights instead of dipped when the fogs are used which get on my tits.Edited by joebongo on Sunday 21st February 19:29

Bit contradictory that.Anyway, serious question. Do you find that you often get flashed by on-coming cars? If nobody else will be affected by it, I always give front fog-lighters a dose of full beam but wonder whether I'm alone in doing so.

I don't see the problem with this.... I only use mine when it's foggy but even then it makes no odds... I never get blinded by other peoples, life is too short to be annoyed
Think you need to change your User name then..... AS to the OP - I saw a skoda advert today where the f***ng thing had the front fogs on.. I am seriously thinking of complaining about it !!
Front Fogs really hack me off.

Kavanagh (QC?) - why do you put your front fogs on?

When you're driving a low car, it's a real pain being confronted with the head- and fog-light combo. It's not such a problem in my current car (Mondeo), but I still do it...
If im completely honest of which i am.I do like the look of cars with there fog lights on.I may go as far as to say I DO think it looks cool.I dont feel ive ever been effected by other peoples use of front fog lights so i feel that my use isnt a major issue.Does using fog lights effect insurance ?.Wouldnt that mean that anybody flashing/high beaming someone with there fog lights on allso be risking there insurance coverage ?.I know the fog light use issue is frowned upon unless its foggy but if im honest unless i get fined i will most proberly carry on.

Would you mind explaining to me (and I suspect others) why you feel the need to drive with fog lights on in perfectly good conditions (and when other cars can be affected by them). I'd love to understand your mentality.10JH said:

I must admit i used to do this, when i had a car with front fogs many many years ago and im ashamed !
Most cars i see with front fogs on don't bother me and they aren't blinding, badly fitted lights on the other hand are very annoying, not sure how people manage to do this but i think its more dangerous when this is the case.
Also most 4x4's with the lights at eye level !
