Saw one earlier, my mate (whether he was joking or not i don't know) said the E30 is a rep-mobile! it looked exactly like this one

just because the modern 3 series (well, the 2 litre diesel at least) is a rep-mobile, doesn't make a 20 year old, 2.7 litre, alpina tuned straight 6 a rep-mobile, surely?

matt, if you read this thread, tell me whether you were serious or not hehe

Interesting question. Does a car cease to be a rep-mobile when it's too old for a rep to drive it?

i don't think an alpina petrol was ever a rep mobile. for instance, i see plenty of A4's or C class diesels about, does that mean the RS4 and C63 AMG are also rep mobiles? if so, i would love to be a rep driving in one of those all day smile i thought rep mobiles were always diesels for starters....?

Of course they are. They're just for richer reps. Besides, there's no term "junior manager mobiles".

do i detect sarcasm, or not? hehe i know someone with an RS4 and they aren't a rep!! rep-mobiles are company cars too, no?? how many RS4's, C63's, M3's, IS-F's etc are company cars?

i'm not arguing my point, just asking some genuine questions smile

Damn right, it's a beauty.

Saw a grey E30 325 today aswell - older chap was waiting outside the shops, don't see many about these days. Classy motors imho.

Plenty, just driven by company directors or SME owners who can have anything they want.

C2.7s are great cars. Still hanker after a touring but there were 14 RHD ones so not a huge mount to choose from.

like my dad with the M3 then hehe

though he said it works out cheaper to just buy it yourself because of taxes or something? so it's not technically a company car...?

Love it! How can anyone describe it as a rep mobile?

Dear E21 Ross,

I had one in the '90s E804SNW are you still out there? Great tail-outy handling and that glorious straight six warble through to a howl. Despite the long throw crank it revved most freely.

Oh, and I'm not a rep., never have been, never want to be. Engineer, yes,

regards,
Jet

You possibly go to the same Uni as E21Ross then as there is one parked on the campus there quite often.

that's true actually, i've never given it 2 thoughts. i see pics of track days every now and again and you nearly always see E30's and E36's but you rarely see A4's old C classes etc. he said people just like them because 'they are a bmw' but why would you like a bmw and not a kia? well to make it a 'bmw' then surely there must be a few good things about it in the first place. and yes, i'm at glamorgan. it's the one i saw yesterday, lovely looking and sounding thing.
