so wot are we going to do with the next hike in price...said to be another 3p a litre.....i think we should adopt the tactics the yanks used when they tried it across the pond....and that was to pick a brand...ie shell...and boycott for a week garages selling that brand....the following week pick on another brand....you never know it might get a small message to them that care about huge profits and get the ball rolling to reducing the absurd price of fuel in this country....or are we going to do wot the brits normally do and say there aint nothing i can do about it and look forward to the 2pound litre....cos believe me its a coming.
Unforunately it's not the filling stations, it's the government 
The filling stations are just making a living. The oil companies are making big profits, but why shouldn't they? They have to dig the stuff up so that we can burn it

As I understand it it is the government that stitches us up, the petrol companies do not make much profit off the petrol itself? The tax tables are on ABD somewhere. Also BP will probably use Total refinery for supply and Shell may use BP refinery elsewhere and Tesco using BP. Not everyone has a spare refinery anymore.

Tax in the name of 'Green'
Opec control of production
Massive demand from China / India

Things that do not push up the price:-
Oil companies who have to do all the work finding, extracting, storing, refining, developing and transporting the stuff, and get taxed to buggery as well.
Still, a few TVR owners boycotting BP will show 'em!

You don't really think a change of government is going to improve things?Think we're in trouble now? God help us if that clown Cameron gets in. Let's not forget it was the Tories who bought in the 'fuel tax escalator'. Anyway, that's politics for ya, I vote for positive action and a boycott of some sort, but people wont do it, it's not the British way.
Boycotting a fuel company is going to achieve pretty much sweet FA... Especially as they don't make that much profit from fuel, it's the franchise holder of the fuel station that suffers, so all you are doing is putting local people out of a job.
Blockading fuel distribution points might have more of an effect if we do it for a week or two, but the harsh reality of that is those who have most to lose by high fuel prices, (i.e. those most likely to participate in a blockade) are the likes of truck drivers who will actually do themselves more harm by not working for 2 weeks and causing fuel shortages. The small independants will be out of business very quickly if they don't work, and the big companies don't really care as they will just pass the costs on to the customer, who will pay or go out of business themselves. If employees of big haulage firms take part they will be sacked and replaced PDQ - I bet there are plenty of out of work truck drivers (or foreign labour) that would fill the slots.
Your average Joe on the street - like me, isn't going to waste time on a long protest when they have a life to lead, already limited time with the family, and jobs to get to - It's just not that important to most people. Plus there just isn't money in the economy to stop the tsunami of fuel tax rises, most people realise they will be taxed one way or another, so why bother robbing Peter to pay Paul?
I'm not saying it's right, but it's where we are...

Surely at the end of the day you can blame whichever party you want but fuel tax will remain high whoever is in power. While I dont like to pay high prices anymore than anyone else it comes down to the fact that £X is spent by government each year and so £X needs to be found from somewhere to pay for it.
If it isnt fuel tax it will be higher income tax or the such like. They are going to get their money one way or another and until someone finds a way to drastically reduce the cost of running this country that is not going to change is it?.

if it's not on petrol it'll be on something else, the country needs £x per annum to run and it has to come from somewhere... (plus we have a nice big debt to pay back now, so they need to screw us for even more £).
