How many times did you ever say that when you were a kid.
Back then you'd badger a car/bike owner and they'd be happy to tell you speeds that may or may not of been true but hey you were a kid, if it did more that 100mph then it was impressive.

These days though, kids say 'nice bike mister' to me and i reply 'thanks' and turn away while thinking 'please go away before someone see's me talking to kids'

sad days.

I don't. I always stop and chat to the youngsters and tell them how Jesus died for our sins.

Not really.

As long as you don't get caught offering them Werther's originals, you're ok.

Just tell them you were researching an article for a newspaper.

I'd be more worried about them checking out what security you have on it, following you home and telling there mates.

What I find kids ask these days is not how fast is it, but how much is it worth? No idea why.

I get that with my watch when I tell them I'm a watchmaker. Some people really don't seem to see the difference between enthusiast and disinterested prospector. Too much aspirational crap in society & not enough personal development, I guess.

Reminds me of an aquaintance of my Dad's who had recently bought some 50's-70's wedding cars to start up a business and was banging on about how much he loved classics (having previously never owned a car over five years old) and who went on to inform my Dad that his untouched 61' beetle, MK2 Cortina, Series III Safari Landrover & completely original launch year BMW R100RS werent classics because they "werent worth anything". Nice outlook. rolleyes

Why would anyone want to know how fast your watch went? hehe

THat would be a far more embarrassing question than how much it was worth. hehe

Surely there is more to the latter than comes to mind; surely it comes with the line, "Does this smell like chloroform to you?" wink
