idea I found myself wondering about the future of the internal combustion engine in the motor vehicle today, which led me to consider the future of the website named after the love of said object.

I have two questions, the second dependent on the first.

1. Should the ICE cease to exist in cars, ought PH to continue on as:

a) a website dedicated to the celebration of its time on Earth, and thus a historic/classic vehicle site of sorts, or

b) a website that continue to embrace the personal transport that is the car, whatever it may be powered by (maybe with a sub-section dedicated to the ICE?).

If you answered a) to Q1 then Q2 is void, otherwise:

2. What should PH's new name be? For example, should fuel cells dominate: HydrogenHeads; batteries: VoltHeads (ok, I'm struggling there getmecoat), or what if more than one technology co-exist happily?

Over to you! type

Andy smile

PS: I should proably point out that I'm not a mole put here by PH to do a swift survey, I really was just wondering! tongue out

Is what we're writing now likely to be unearthed in the future by some scrawny digi-archealogist as they investigate the threads and meanders of a slice of time and history, the vox pop Pepys?

It'll be a long time before the ICE disappears.

At the moment it's top of the governments hitlist - they can get the shrill middle class sheep following the "environment" line and can use it to mulct huge amounts of money from us.

At some point the use of petrol will decline to the point where it's not worth it for them anymore - ICE cars will drop off the radar, leaving them in the hands of enthusiasts.

That's what I reckon will happen.

Indeed. I dearly hope it never disappears altogether! That would be a sad sad day. But should it get to the point where the ICE powers only a small percentage of cars on the road, or perhaps it is not possible to buy a new ICE car, what direction would users like to see PH take? I'm all for new technologies, so I hope that both can live harmoniously on the site as the currently do...

We already allow Rotary chat in here, so I'd say Pistonheads will be fine.

I think it will grow and then there will be another we will migrate to when it gets too big and becomes a victim of its own success....

I hope so too, I'd be redundant!
