Does anyone know if there are any companies left which offer a DOC extension for someone aged under 25 (I'm 23) on a fully comp policy?

I'm really pissed off because I was with bell for 3 years on a flexibell policy but they have just removed the driving other cars extension on my renewal quote and the fking price has gone up to over £2000 despite now having a 3 years of no claims bonus.... ok ok my car is group 15 (S70 T5), but it is still sodding Volvo not a bloody sports car....I could insure an MR2 or Golf GTI for less. Tossers.

Having the DOC 3rd party only is bloody useful as we have 3 cars in our house and once in a while I may need to drive one of the other cars when mine goes in for a service... or drive a mates car when they are too wasted to get home safely... etc etc.

What with this and the price of petrol I am seriously considering buying a derv........ *puke*

They are virtually extinct now due to misuse.

Yup.

Very few do it. Lots of crashing and scamming has killed it off.

Well I have to say I made full use of the DOC on my policy, however I didn't misuse it - I mean I'm already paying through the nose for a high group car anyway, so there would be no benefit for me there.

I was really surprised that they removed the feature from my policy, what with me being an existing customer as well.

Did you own the car's you were driving on your driveway (you said they were on your driveway see) as the DOC cover wouldn't cover you for this.
Unfortunately you will find it very difficult to find an insurer who will provide DOC to under 25's there are probably a few still out there but you'll probably be paying a large premium for it.

edit to add The flexibell policy simply dosn't exist anymore you would have been move onto the more relevant policy i.e flexi comp cover next renewal you would have been moved to the standard comprehensive policy part of this may have been the reason for the increase in your premium as the flexi bell policies had reduced cover legal cover, courtesy car etc weren't standard but on comp they are so the price would increase.

When I was with Chubb Masterpiece I was permitted to drive any car with the owner's permission fully comprehensive.

One of the benefits of being nearly 40!!

No, I only own one car, which is registered/insured to me.... others cars belong to family members and are registered/insured by them. I suppose I could get myself down as a named driver on their policies, but that is going to push up their premiums for what is probably only 4 or 5 times a year I need to drive their cars.

I've been checking up on Chubb but you can't seem to purchase it directly from them. Does anyone know where to find a Chubb broker.
Thanks.

For anyone looking for this recently, I just got a policy with DOC included with Flux (I'm 23).

£530 fully comp on a Cooper S which isn't bad at all.
